We feel so blessed to have had Katie as our doula. As
first time parents, it was important to have someone we were both comfortable
with to help us prepare for our big day. Katie was great. Her experience, calm
reassurance and support were priceless during our labor and delivery. It would
not have been the same without her. ~ Emily and David
Katie is an exceptional doula. She provided incredible support and allowed my husband to never leave my side. From orchestrating communication between my nurse, doctor, and family to knowing exactly what to say and do during the labor experience, Katie was there for me every step of the way. I truly believe that without Katie as my doula, my labor and delivery would not have been as meaningful.
At first I was skeptical about having a doula. I didn't want it to interfere with the experience I might have with my wife. But after I started working with Katie, I realized it would only enhance the experience with my wife. She was very comforting and allowed me to focus on my wife's needs without worrying about everything else going on around us. She helped make stressful situations a lot more peaceful and enjoyable. I can't imagine having done this without her. ~ Andrew
I wanted to hire a doula for my recent birth because I really wanted to have a
VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean). I was hopeful that having a doula there
assisting would help make that possible. Katie turned out to be the perfect
person for the job. I felt at ease with her from the first time I met her and
she was such a pleasure to have at the birth. She did a great job of supporting
me and my husband during the labor and delivery process. She has wonderful
techniques to help the labor be more comfortable and was also great at assisting
in communication with the medical staff. We had a wonderful birth experience
(including the VBAC that I wanted) and Katie will be at the top of our calling
list should we decide to add to our family again. ~ RaeKell
I’m so
thankful for Katie’s support during the birth of my son. As a first time mom I didn’t know what to
expect during labor and wanted strong, supportive people around me. Though I have a strong, supportive husband
who was excited and engaged in the process, I decided that a doula would be helpful
support if only to journal about events that took place, take pictures and, if
need be, relay messages to family and friends waiting in the hospital
lobby. During labor I found that Katie
was much more than just “helpful.” At
times she was my only source of support.
My husband was forced to take a business call during the peak of my
contractions -- something I never imagined would happen. And even when my husband was present again
there were times when I needed extra encouragement and Katie was there saying
exactly what I needed to hear. At the
end of that long, amazing day not only did Katie provide the support that I
needed but also a beautiful narrative and pictures to remind me of the most
amazing moment of my life – the moment I met my son. ~ Grace
My experience
with Katie was wonderful! I worked with Katie for the last three months
of my first pregnancy and she assisted us in preparing our birth plan,
explaining the pros and cons of different birthing options, and she provided
much needed emotional support. When I was scheduled to be induced after
becoming ten days overdue, Katie headed right over the day before the
induction to try to get my son’s birth going. We worked all day and
before we knew it, my son’s birth was in full motion. During labor Katie
was extremely involved as we had requested. She helped us try many
different methods to assist in the birthing process and to achieve our ultimate
goal of not having a c-section. Katie also helped to keep all parties
informed of our progress and managed the birthing room. Katie supported
us in all the choices we made and continued to provide us with unbiased
information. My son’s birth would not have been so successful
without Katie and we will surely call upon her services when we have another
child. ~ Casey
